Developing innovative leaders with advanced knowledge and practical skills

The MBA and MSc programs of the NUCB Business School are characterized by an emphasis on practical education, employing the case method to provide a higher quality of education and research as certified by international accreditation organizations. Accredited business schools are required to raise standards for graduate education worldwide and make continuous changes based on their educational mission.

Accordingly, the NUCB Business School provides an educational environment that is distinct from that of other business schools at its campuses in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya, further expanding management education opportunities for today's professionals. In addition to its master's degree programs, the school offers advanced education opportunities through Focused Programs, corporate training, and business succession education for owner-operated companies.

Accreditation

Without certification by international accreditation organizations such as AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS, the quality of an institution's MBA program can only be held accountable to the institution itself. The triple accreditation of the NUCB Business School by AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS place it within the top 1% of the world's business schools offering management education. Nagoya University of Commerce and Business is the only university in Japan to have obtained international accreditation for both its undergraduate and graduate programs.

  • AACSB International

AACSB International is the world's oldest and most prestigious third-party evaluation organization for management education. It is particularly known for its pursuit of educational quality, which it manages through an improvement process known as Assurance of Learning (AOL). Once accredited, institutions must submit annual improvement reports as part of a continuing certification process that includes an on-site audit every five years.

  • AMBA

Of the world's three major international accreditation bodies for business schools, AMBA is the leading organization in Europe. AMBA accreditation requires programs for professionals with practical experience, and the strict selection process examines every detail of program curricula.

  • EQUIS

EQUIS is one of the largest international quality evaluation organizations for management education. Only educational and research institutions that demonstrate the highest possible quality in curricula and research activities throughout a rigorous review by a panel of esteemed expert examiners are eligible to become one of the few hundred to earn EQUIS accreditation.

  • EFMD

Based in Brussels, Belgium, EQUIS and EPAS are international accreditation organizations that focus on academic research.

  • EMBAC

The first EMBA was established at the University of Chicago in 1943, followed by EMBAAC in 1981. Only high-quality business schools with international accreditation and a long history of successful Executive MBA programs are invited to join EMBAAC.

  • AAPBS

The Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools was established in 2001 by Korean business school KAIST. Since then, it has provided a forum for leaders of business schools in Asia to gather and discuss issues in management education.

Why NUCB Business School

World-renowned academic programs belong in a world-class setting. Designed in cooperation with other leading business schools and located near Nagoya Station, the state-of-the-art flagship Marunouchi Tower Campus reached completion in 2015, becoming Japan's first dedicated business school campus. For students new to Japan, Nagoya's central location makes it the ideal starting point for exploring all the country has to offer. For students already residing in Japan, the School's partner network of over 170 leading business schools provides study abroad opportunities in more than 50 countries around the world.

World-renowned educational curriculum

International accreditation verifies that NUCB Business School MBA/EMBA programs in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya have been independently and objectively qualified as among the best in the world. The pioneering Weekend MBA program, offered since 2003, is the oldest and largest MBA program for professionals in Japan; more than 95% of program participants are career professionals with extensive work experience.

Prestigious faculty with practical and international experience

More than 90% of our faculty members are practitioners who have been active on the front lines of business. They have passed a number of strict international standards set by AACSB and AMBA, such as practical experience related to their teaching fields and publications. Unlike unidirectional academic lectures for training researchers, we provide practical learning directly related to business for working professionals, reflecting the experience and knowledge gained from international business through participant-centered case method learning.

Overseas training support from top business schools

For working professionals, a busy schedule can be an insurmountable obstacle to studying abroad. In recognition of the value of learning experiences overseas, we established the Working Professionals Overseas Study Support Program in 2005 in cooperation with the leading overseas institutions Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan, IMD Business School, and Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Each program lasts from three to seven days, allowing participants to have a fulfilling learning experience with a minimum of time commitment. Participants not only receive scholarships, but also receive credits from these programs as well.

About MBA

MBA Japan

About MBA

MBA stands for Master of Business Administration, and three organizations accredit MBA programs internationally (AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS). The standard MBA program in Japan and the U.S. requires one to two years of study. The MBA is a degree in business administration, not a proprietary qualification like those for accountants and lawyers.

In the U.S., the home of the MBA, 100,000 MBAs graduate per year. In addition, it has been reported that 60% of general managers in listed companies hold an MBA degree or higher. The two major industries in which demand for MBAs is high worldwide are finance and securities and healthcare and pharmaceuticals. This is because industries that barriers to entry have traditionally protected are undergoing restructuring on a global scale.
