Abstract This research uses Mitsui & Co. Ltd. as a case study to investigate the methods of “increasing market capitalization,” one of the primary missions of publicly listed companies. Through an integrated approach including the fields of strategic management, finance, risk management, marketing, personnel management, and organizational strategy, this research aims to consider the theoretical background and practical points regarding how to boost the company’s shareholder value (market capitalization) over the medium- and long-term by realizing a reduction in cost of equity together with spurring sustainable growth in future cash flow through strengthening the company’s traditionally weak non-resource business.
