History and Milestones

NUCB Business School


Nagoya University of Commerce and Business, the first-generation private university in Japan, was founded in 1953 by Yuichi Kurimoto, the first Japanese to graduate from the University of Alberta in 1930 and the founder of the Kurimoto Educational Institute (KEI). Over the last 90 years, the university has become known worldwide as a premier educational institution. The KEI established its Business School in 1990 and launched graduate-level educational programs to develop skilled and innovative managers.

In 2003, NUCB Business School launched the first EMBA program in Japan. In accordance with the fundamental principles of pragmatic thinking espoused by Yuichi Kurimoto, NUCB Business School educates distinguished leaders who take the initiative to reform established business activities and start new businesses to contribute to the advancement of society.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to educate innovative and ethical leaders who possess a Frontier Spirit and to create knowledge that advances business and society. Our graduate students will have the ability to bridge the gap between new Asia and the rest of the world.

NUCB Business School will be a premier business school in Asia through practice-oriented learning combining tradition with innovation and international programs.

    NUCB Business School founded to provide graduate-level management education

    One-year evening MBA program in Information Technology Management launched

  • 2003

    Two-year Executive MBA launched

  • 2004

    Two-year M.Sc. in Taxation launched

  • 2005

    Two-year MIM (English-track) launched

  • 2005

    Center for Strategic Management established

  • 2005

    Tokyo campus opened

  • 2006

    The School becomes the second institution in Japan to be accredited by AACSB International

  • 2007

    Osaka Campus opened

  • 2009

    The School becomes the first institution in Japan to be accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA)

    Membership of Association of Asia-Pacific Business School (AAPBS) begun

  • 2011

    Non-degree executive education program launched

Organization Structure

NUCB Business School is a private, non-profit management school established by the Kurimoto Educational Institute (KEI) in 1990. KEI is a legally incorporated educational institution that manages four different entities - a graduate school, an undergraduate school, an international boarding high school, and an international junior and senior high school as indicated below.
