Scholarships for International Students

Prior to Enrollment

Our school offers several scholarships at the admission stage prior to enrollment in recognition of the beneficial qualities applicants contribute to our student body as enrollees. See more details below and ask if you may qualify by applying.

Pre-Enrollment Achievement Scholarship

Candidates will be screened for eligibility on the basis of the result of the entrance exam and the GMAT or GRE score. Remission will be applied for the first semester after entrance. The recipients must undergo an eligibility review every semester based on their academic performance. Candidates must enclose the application form for the scholarship with the application materials for admission.

Pre-Enrollment Experience Scholarships

In recognition of the value unique perspectives bring to the classroom, the admissions committee will award 10 to 50% reduction of tuition to those who meet the following categories during the admissions process.

During Enrollment

Qualified students may receive the following tuition remission according to academic performance. The first eligibility review takes place at the end of the first semester for the tuition remission in the following semester.

Housing Scholarship

We award housing scholarships to qualifying students each semester based on academic performance in the semester prior. The assessment standard is based on GPA and attendance rate, and can be awarded in addition to the tuition remission scholarships above.

Eligibility Reviews

Students awarded scholarship and housing aid undergo an eligibility review every semester based on their academic performance. Poor academic performance may result in the cancellation of a scholarship. Therefore, all scholarship recipients are encouraged to study hard to show high academic achievements and high attendance as well.

External Scholarship

MEXT Scholarship

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology provides a full scholarship to international students. MEXT Scholarship can be granted via either one of the following two recommendation routes.

Embassy Recommendation
Those wishing to receive an embassy recommendation for MEXT scholarship should consult with their local Japanese embassy or consulate.

University Recommendation
Those wishing to receive a university recommendation for MEXT scholarship are asked to contact our office via email for more details. Specific information about guidelines can be found on the MEXT website linked below, but generally, we advise university recommendation hopefuls to plan for enrollment more than one year in advance.

JASSO Scholarship

The Japan Student Services Organization, an independent administrative institution, funds scholarship for international students. All international students are automatically put forward for JASSO scholarship consideration upon enrollment and need not submit any additional application.

Non-Governmental Scholarships

Our office receives information about available opportunities for international students from various organizations dedicated to supporting internationalization and education efforts throughout the country. We interpret and announce these opportunities and support our students in applying for them. Such opportunities in the past have included partial and full scholarships from the following organizations:

Scholarships for students working in Japan

Education and Training Benefit System of the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare

The School operates courses designated by the Minister of Health, Labor, and Welfare as eligible for the provision of specialized practical education and training benefits. Please visit the nearest Employment Office (Hello Work) for details such as designated programs. Regular degree students who complete designated programs according to the requirements will be paid up to 1.12 million yen.

KEI scholarships and benefits

For professionals, female leaders, and international leaders

Scholarship recipients from three categories will be selected twice a year at the time of the selection process based on eligibility.  The scholarship can be continued after the second semester of the first year depending on the student's performance after admission. Even if a student is not selected as a scholarship recipient in this selection process, the student who is deemed qualified to study at the NUCB Business School will be admitted as a regular degree student.

Founder's scholarship

Students with excellent academic records who meet the criteria for academic records in the semester prior to the semester in which the scholarship is awarded will receive a predetermined amount each month.

Students who wish to apply for the scholarship after enrollment will be selected based on their income and other criteria. There are two types of scholarships: the Type 1 Scholarship, which does not carry interest, and the Type 2 Scholarship, which does carry interest, with different selection criteria.

The School also offers low interest educational loans through a unique partnership with a private financial institution.


Orico Student Financial Support Plan

In addition to our partner financial institutions, various other financial institutions offer student loans. There are differences in interest rates and repayment methods, so please check the website of the relevant institution for details.

Other tuition support

Tuition installment payment system

After enrollment, tuition is payable semiannually. Payment in two or three installments is also available. However, an amount equivalent to 1% of the remaining balance (deferred payment amount) will be charged as a handling fee.  

We do not accept payment by installment for fees owed upon admission, including the admission fee and the first semester tuition.

Scholarships for study abroad

Student Foreign Exchange Scholarship

Students enrolled in any degree program are eligible to receive up to 500,000 yen or an amount equivalent to study abroad travel expenses to and from exchanges at one of our partner institutions. Recipients are selected from those who meet all of the following conditions:

• TOEIC 750 points or higher, or TOEFL 550 (PBT) / 80 (iBT) points or higher*
• Attendance rate of 95% or more
• GPA of 3.0 or higher

*Requirement waived for those enrolled in courses taught in English or with native English proficiency

Scholarship for off-campus EMBA modules

Students who meet certain criteria are eligible to participate in short-term study abroad programs developed and held by  IMD (International Institute for Management Development, MIT (Massachusetts Institute Technology), or HBS (Harvard Business School). Up to 3 qualifying participants from the NUCB Business School may also be eligible to receive up to 200,000 yen or an amount equivalent to study abroad travel expenses.

*Authorized study abroad refers to study abroad at institutions outside of the NUCB Business School Global Campus partner network that has been approved by Administration Office as a study abroad destination. Fees at the study abroad destination or host institution will be paid for by the student taking courses or engaging in research.
*Applicable only to study abroad as part of a degree program for which credit is granted based on the authorized study abroad program.
*The maximum amount of the scholarship to be provided is 500,000 yen.
