NUCB Business School is proud to provide a prime environment for working professionals to further their studies. Students have the opportunity to attend top business schools worldwide through our vast network of partner schools and a variety of programs ranging in length, including short-term exchange programs at prestigious business schools such as Harvard, MIT Sloan, and IMD.
Our school is widely recognized domestically and internationally by business schools and the industrial sector alike for its campuses, which are located for convenient access by working professionals in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. Our EMBA program was honored as Japan's #1 in the Financial Times (FT) "2018 Asia-Pacific Top 25 Business School Ranking," and all of our programs continue to rate at the top in the world-renowned QS rankings for Asia and Japan.
Our school offers internationally accredited MBA, Msc, and EMBA programs through its campuses in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya. Our MBA program was the first program for working professionals to be established domestically. This program, known as the Weekend MBA, was established in 2003 and is the longest running program for professionals in Japan. The program is the largest in scale amongst MBA programs in Japan, and boasts over 95% of its enrollment from working professionals representing a vast range of industries.
When researching business schools, one of the first steps is understanding which institutions have international accreditation. Accreditation means that our institution has surpassed and maintained the highest standards in higher education business school quality and performance, and that we are committed to offering the best in business education. It means that your degree is worth more as you enter the marketplace.
All classes are taught through the Case Method, using the latest business cases. These business cases paint a vivid picture of the management issues faced by real companies on a daily basis. Course participants vicariously experience the situation from a manager’s perspective as they read the case and participate in a series of class discussions. Through the wide scale of experiences represented by several hundred cases, students are given first hand experience in decision making from a manager’s standpoint, allowing them to further advance their practical management skills.
Analytical skills, theoretical thinking, presentation skills, and leadership are only a handful of the extensive range of skills required in management. At our school, students cultivate these abilities through repetition of the 3-step process: self-study, group discussion, and class discussion.
More than 90% of our faculty members are practitioners who have been active on the front lines of business. They have passed a number of strict international standards such as academic and practical experience related to their teaching fields. Unlike unidirectional academic lectures for training researchers, we provide practical learning directly related to business for working professionals, reflecting the experience and knowledge gained from international business through participant-centered case method learning.
By using the case method, I realize that I can acquire practical knowledge and a strong sense of know-how by putting myself in the shoes of top management.

In the age of VUCA, the ability to come up with the best answer within a limited time and many constraints is required, and the NUCB Business School fosters this ability. Being able to learn how to think in a way that can be applied to any situation, rather than the only answer based on knowledge, has been a great asset for me.

The people in the discussion group are from various industries and various job positions. You need to be logical and plain when expressing your opinion to be treated as an equal peer and get the agreement. I came to focus not only on the theory but also on the way to utilize and communicate.

It was a valuable experience to be in an environment where I could compete seriously with other students with various careers. I have learned there are things I cannot achieve despite my best efforts, but at the same time have discovered my own assets which I value and can improve upon. There is a prevailing misconception that working professionals can't study abroad while fulfilling their professional duties. However, our school has made this possible by establishing its “Support System for the Overseas Training of Working Professionals." Our school created the system in 2005 in cooperation with Harvard Business School, the MIT Sloan School of Management, IMD Business School, and the Kellogg School of Management to provide short-term study abroad opportunities, ranging from 3 to 7 days in length, enabling an enriching learning experience with a minimum time commitment. There are also options for participants, such as student grants and credit recognition applicable toward NUCB Business School programs.
Our school has partnerships with over 120 prestigious business schools worldwide, giving students the opportunity to participate in exchange programs starting at a length of 60 days. All of our partner institutions are not only highly reputed in their respective regions, but also rank at the top of world MBA rankings and hold international accreditation. No additional tuition fee is required for participation in partner school programs, and scholarships are granted to nominees meeting qualification requirements. A total of up to 10 credits can be recognized and transferred toward the completion of your program at NUCB Business School.
The Double Degree Program is an advanced degree program in which students study for a year each at both NUCB Business School and a partner business school. Graduates obtain master’s degrees from both business schools in a period of two years. Students participating in this program are only required to pay the tuition fee for the two-year program at our school.
All of our campuses are conveniently located within a ten-minute walk of major transportation terminals. The option of transferring from one campus to another is available for those being relocated due to a corporate transfer, or a moving to a different city for any other reason. Our main campus lecture auditoriums have a "horseshoe" layout, the international business school standard providing an ideal space for case discussion. Furthermore, all of our campuses are equipped with wireless internet access, group study rooms, and CISCO teleconferencing systems, constituting a learning environment designed to meet the needs of executive students.
