Abstract
This case study explores Green Mill, a family-owned feed mill company in Indonesia, and their pursuit of a dependable packaging supplier amidst various challenges. The company had a longstanding partnership with Hope Printing, owned by a close friend of the deceased owner, serving as their primary source for packaging materials. However, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the supply chain, resulting in delayed and inadequate deliveries from Hope Printing.After the owner's unfortunate passing, Angela, his wife, took over the company's operations and entrusted Bobby, a trusted aide and factory manager, with day-to-day management. Recognizing the need for a more reliable supplier, Bobby proactively sought alternative options. This led him to Henry, a freelance salesman with connections in the printing industry, who could potentially assist in finding a new packaging supplier.Understanding the urgency and the impact on Green Mill's production, Henry utilized his industry knowledge and network to identify potential packaging suppliers that could meet the company's requirements. Through effective communication and negotiation, Henry secured a commitment from a reliable supplier, ensuring timely delivery and consistent quality of packaging materials.Green Mill faced additional challenges during the supplier transition, including a temporary shift to transparent plastic packaging and the need to update their design. Despite these obstacles, the company saw an opportunity for growth and improvement. They engaged their design team to create a fresh packaging concept, aligning it with their brand values and enhancing customer appeal.Through determination and collaboration with Henry, Green Mill successfully overcame the complexities of finding a new packaging supplier.
