Abstract
Kollab Guru Group, Inc. or more commonly known as Kollab, is an IT – BPM and digital transformational expert with headquarters in the Philippines and a branch office in Singapore. Kollab specializes in cloud-first solutions, such as Google, AWS, Okta, and custom development projects. These solutions fall under their three pillars of solutions, namely, enterprise collaboration, infra and app modernization, and hybrid security. The organization also fosters a positive culture prioritizing employees wellbeing and a shared resources model for their two offices. The case tackles the possibility of Kollab’s next branch office, through the perspective of Jonathan, head of sales, marketing, and accounts management. The emerging markets taken into consideration are Thailand and Vietnam. The two emerging markets have their own strengths and weaknesses enumerated, and Jonathan needs to propose which of the nominated countries will Kollab benefit the most from. It was also highlighted in the case how important the corporate culture is within Kollab and this has to be taken into account while managing the new and existing branch offices. Moreover, Jonathan pondered if Kollab expansion should already be proposed, and if so, where should they expand to? Will the Board of Directors all approve this expansion? What strategy should he propose to convince these board of directors? Questions lingered as multiple challenges are to be addressed before their board of directors meeting next month. More challenges were highlighted in the case, such as Kollab’s readiness to scale globally, the organization’s value creation, the strategy for market penetration, and Jonathan’s possible career progression.
