Takamasa Fujioka

Biography

Prof. Fujioka is the Associate Dean of Professional Graduate School of Meiji University (2021-) and the Director of Sasin Japan Center at Sasin School of Management of Chulalongkorn University, where served as Executive Director & Head of MBA Program. Concurrently he serves as a Visiting Professor at Waseda Business School (Tokyo).

In July 2023, he was elected as the 12th President of Japan Academy for Asian Market Economies and subsequently appointed as the Councilor of the Union of National Economic Associations (54,000 academics) in Japan which belongs to the Science Council of Japan.

He received his Master’s degree with distinction in accounting at the Said Business School of the University of Oxford in 2005, where he was awarded Doctoral degree in Management Studies in 2011.

For many years, he has worked with many Japanese government agencies, private companies and universities in order for the internationalization of higher education institutions, the expansion of Japanese companies (including those in the service industry) into the Asian market, the development of Japanese venture companies in Asia, and the development of global human resources. To date, top executives from more than 500 companies in 30 countries around the world have participated in his training seminars.

His past public projects are supported by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), the National Conference of the Association of Small Business Entrepreneurs, and Nikkei. His collaborators in consulting business includes Nikkei BP, Japan Management Association Consulting (JMAC), Mitsubishi UFJ Research & Consulting, Nomura Research Institute, Globis, Celm, and Corporate Direction (CDI).

He has published 11 books including: Japanese Businesses in Thailand (2012), Doing business in Emerging Markets (2018), Thailand Plus One Strategy of Japanese Firms (2015), Family Business (2019) and Startup Business (2022). He has widely published in international journals and Japanese journals as well as regular contributor to various business magazines and newspapers. He has also provided several policy-making research papers such as “Strategic Partnership Developments between Thailand and Japan: Sociological Approach” (JICA project) and “Post-AEC Strategic Thai Japanese Partnership in Mekong Region: New Roles of Thailand” (JICA project).

He concurrently serves as the Board of Directors of Shinki Bus Co., Ltd., the Auditor of Tomiyama Cultural Foundation (Takara Tomy), Tourism Ambassador of Himeji City, the Chairperson of Asia Smart City Summit and the Advisor to the National Conference of Association of Small Business Entrepreneurs, which has over 47,000 member companies in Japan.
