Abstract
In September 2007, after 141 years of presence in Japan, Stephen Green, the CEO of HSBC announced that the group planned to enter the Japanese retail market, by focusing on the Premier customers segment. But after 5 unsuccessful consecutive years of bad performances, the company decided to leave this market according to the new strategy of HSBC which consists of focusing on profit more than market shares and geographic coverage in the future. Nevertheless, some people in the company take into account the possibility of a return on the market….
