Kazuo Shoji

Biography
While serving in the Criminal Investigation Department (査察部) of the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau, he earned an MBA and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Tsukuba. His expertise lies in the detection of accounting fraud and earnings management, specifically in developing detection models for both listed and unlisted companies using statistical methods, machine learning, and deep learning.
In addition to evaluating the validity of fraud detection results through publicly disclosed materials, he is developing methodologies to interpret the mechanisms behind fraud using Explainable AI (XAI). In recent years, he has expanded his research to include explanation methods utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs), conducting collaborative research with scholars from various universities.
