Ms. Hill, who speaks Japanese fluently, relished the opportunity to share the results of her group collaboration project: a proposal for a “forest school” using the preserve purchased by the Ricoh Corporation in the nearby rural community of Ena in Gifu Prefecture. She spoke about the importance of the project as a model for future tripartite collaborations between government, industry, and academia toward the goal of establishing efforts in sustainable development that directly benefit townspeople and the planet that we all share.

Purpose of the event

Organized by the Aichi Association of University Presidents in cooperation with the Aichi prefectural government and Chubu University, the SDGs Relay Symposium provides an opportunity for students in Aichi Prefecture and throughout Japan who are interested in the creation of a sustainable society and the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) to exchange information on their activities.

The Aichi Association of University Presidents was established in October 1993 for national, public, and private universities in Aichi Prefecture to collaborate in order to contribute to the improvement and development of academia and to create a society that can thrive in a new era of sustainability.

In addition to contributing to the improvement and development of academics, the Association also aims to promote mutual friendship amongst its members, and accumulate focus efforts for the cultural development of Aichi.
