Empowering Egyptian Education With Lessons from Japan

EJEP HRDP

This Saturday marked the end of the opening module of a three-week training program that NUCB Business School is jointly hosting with the Embassy of Egypt in Japan for the Central Department of Missions (CDM). It is the first of two CDM programs scheduled to be delivered at our institution in the latter half of this academic year.

The CDM, a central division of Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education, oversees national scholarship programs and leads the Human Resources Development component of the Egypt–Japan Education Partnership (EJEP). Through EJEP, Japan supports Egypt’s efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, modernize administrative systems, and cultivate internationally trained leaders for the country’s education sector.

During the opening module, CDM specialists took part in sessions led by Prof. Yuko Yamamoto and Associate Prof. Yuri Ichikawa of our Faculty of International Studies, with the first of the weekly review sessions facilitated by Prof. Kenji Yokoyama, our Dean for External Relations, on the final day of the week. These sessions covered Japanese university governance, quality assurance systems, curriculum oversight, and operational models that support global academic engagement.

These academic components were complemented by field visits to institutions such as Nagoya Ecopal, the Foreign Resident Employment Service Center, the Nagoya City Science Museum, and the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology. Through these visits, participants observed how Japanese public agencies and cultural institutions conduct community education, provide structured support for foreign residents, promote scientific literacy, and integrate industry history into technical learning. Together, these experiences offered the delegation a concrete view of how educational and civic organizations operate within Japanese society and how they contribute to lifelong learning and workforce development.

By hosting this program, NUCB Business School contributes to a major bilateral initiative between Egypt and Japan and reinforces our role as an international partner for government agencies seeking practical, management-focused training.
