[Class Report] Leadership & Organizational Behavior

Professor Milton de Sousa arrived for a weekday course in the Global Leader Program to deliver a course on Leadership and Organizational Behavior. Coming from the NOVA School of Business and Economics in Portugal, he holds the title of Associate Professor Adjunct and Associate Dean for Institutional Relations and International Development and he is also Academic Director of the CEMS MIM program.

His work emphasizes servant leadership, meaningfulness and complex adaptive systems with publications and practical work experience in the realm of leadership which were formed during his PhD research while at RSM, Erasmus University in the Netherlands. This course at the NUCB Business School aims to equip students with a broad understanding of leadership and organizational behavior from an applied perspective. Theories were introduced with the support of case studies and examples and a critical and reflective perspective was emphasized. Professor de Sousa invited students to develop their own judgement and broad decision making skills under complex situations working in parallel to more traditional theories, the latest thinking on systems, complexity and paradoxes were also included. A special emphasis will be given to the growing field of ethical leadership and positive organizations - particularly salient given the recent new of Carlos Ghosn as the CEO of Nissan!
