MSc in Management
How difficult is it to manage an organization serving different markets in multiple countries? Multinational Corporations (MNCs) lose billions every year because they simply ignore or are unable to understand the consumer expectations in other cultures and the way they do business. What is the secret to successfully managing an MNC, or playing an effective role in a multinational management team? Managing Multinational Business addresses these challenges by expanding knowledge about employees, management, and intricacies of operations overseas and associated risks.
Prof. Hakeem Muhammad Mohsin conducted an online lecture on “Managing Multinational Business,” an elective module for the Masters in Management (MiM) of the Global Leader Program (GLP). This course provides a framework for understanding cross-cultural differences and using such knowledge in country-specific management practices and policies. Moreover, it covers the strategic issues associated with diverse operational environments. The discussion weighs heavily on the social and ethical responsibilities of managers dealing with different situations and optimal ways to manage MNCs according to their size and mode of operations in foreign markets.
With 13 different nationalities counted amongst the participants in the course, students’ diverse viewpoints provided a wide range of insight when it came to the finer points of capturing international markets. By the end of the course, participants will have benefited from one another as much as they have from the materials and instructor and developed a deeper understanding of the dynamics of international markets and operational strategies adopted by MNCs.
