Microeconomics and Macroeconomics

In this course, participants learn microeconomics and macroeconomics, both indispensable for working people engaged in management.  Through case method teaching, the concepts and basic analytical methods of economics and their application to management and policy analysis are mastered.

Business Economics by Professor Tomofumi Anegawa

On the second day of the course, the participants studied the basics of microeconomics, using the cases of Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways to examine the reasons for cost cutting and pricing in air transportation companies that have been hit hard by the COVID-19 infection, as well as the possibility of bankruptcy and how to deal with these problems. Other class discussions focused on microeconomic perspectives on entry, pricing, and monopoly in the music business and IT platforms. Participants also discussed their future challenges as businesspeople and how to learn more about microeconomics, based on the small cases that they had been able to analyze through their understanding of microeconomics up to this point.
