Human Resources Management: Talent and Morale in Public Healthcare

NEW #MBA

Prof. Ken Kamoche

The Human Resources Management course invites students to move beyond administrative views of HR and examine how people management shapes performance, ethics, and employee well-being. Over four intensive days, participants engaged with global cases addressing strategic HRM, talent systems, diversity, and work–life balance in complex organizational contexts.

On Day 2, discussion centered on Changi General Hospital: Balancing Work-Life in a Healthcare Organisation, a case set in a large public hospital. Students explored how HR leaders manage morale, engagement, and retention under staffing constraints, high emotional demands, and public accountability. The session highlighted how HR decisions in healthcare directly affect both organizational sustainability and patient outcomes.

The course was taught by Professor Ken Kamoche, a leading scholar in human resources management and international business. He has held faculty appointments at Bayes Business School (City, University of London) and the University of Reading, and has served as a visiting professor at prominent institutions worldwide. His research has been published in journals such as Human Relations, Journal of World Business, and British Journal of Management.

This class marked Professor Kamoche’s first appointment as a visiting professor at the school, bringing a globally informed, research-driven perspective that enriched discussion and deepened students’ understanding of HR’s strategic role in high-impact public organizations.
