About international accreditation
International accreditation organizations check, from a third party's perspective, whether degree-granting educational institutions, including MBA schools, meet the education and research functions required to operate as business schools at an international level. They are a necessary and important part of measuring the effectiveness of a business school's programs.
Why international accreditation matters
- Strict checks on teaching/research quality
- Maintaining objectivity in measuring strengths and weaknesses
- Adhering to uniform standards
Why some schools are not accredited
- International accreditation is not a legal requirement
- Institutions want to determine their own path
- International recognition is less of a priority at certain business schools
- Institutions do not meet the strict standards of the most prestigious accrediting bodies
