The 2024 SDGs Project, led by Prof. Hoe Chin Goi, launched with the theme “Regenerating Impactful Business Models for Sustainability.” Now in its fourth year, this capstone program combines case studies, fieldwork, and stakeholder engagement to tackle real world challenges. This year’s participants include 12 international MBA and MSc students from diverse countries such as Pakistan, Tunisia, and Italy. The focus is on developing solutions for two innovative startups in Aichi Prefecture: Epsilon Bioanalytics K.K. and Starboard Inc.
Partnering with Epsilon Bioanalytics K.K.
Epsilon Bioanalytics, led by CEO Dr. Ekrem Ayna and supported by alumni Dr. Kim Wonkwon and Mr. Shinya Nakano, explores sustainable aquaculture solutions through data analytics. Participants visited the Atsumi Fish Market and Aichi Prefectural Aquaculture Center, gaining hands-on insights into the industry’s challenges. Discussions with experts like Dr. Katsuyoshi Suito enriched their understanding of how technology can foster sustainable growth in aquaculture.
Collaboration with Starboard Inc.
Starboard Inc., under CEO Masanori Yabe and Mr. Kohei Azuma, tackles Japan’s foreign talent shortage by supporting Indonesian workers placed in local SMEs. Through site visits to Kuwana City in Mie Prefecture, students observed Starboard’s innovative processes and engaged with clients, employees, and government officials to understand how inclusivity drives regional development.
Shaping Future SDG Leaders
Thanks to the invaluable support of Epsilon Bioanalytics and Starboard Inc., participants gained practical experience addressing pressing sustainability issues. As we approach the final presentations in December, we are proud to see our students applying their knowledge to create impactful solutions—further demonstrating the commitment to nurturing leaders for a sustainable future.
