Exploring the Future of Case Method at the AAPBS Case Teaching Workshop
NUCB Business School proudly hosted a dynamic Case Teaching Workshop in partnership with the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) and Harvard Business Impact (formerly Harvard Business Publishing). Designed to strengthen the pedagogical skills of business educators, the workshop brought together faculty, deans, and academic leaders from across Asia for two days of highly interactive, participant-centered sessions held at the Nagoya Campus.
From the very beginning, the workshop embodied the essence of case method teaching: dialogue, inquiry, and real-time discovery. Sessions led by experts including Prof. Ricardo Lim, Prof. Louie Wong, Prof. Mohsin Hakeem, and Prof. Hitesh Shukla sparked lively debate on how generative AI is reshaping the classroom—and how educators can stay ahead of the curve. Cases ranged from Harvard classics to cutting-edge material like “Generative AI and the Future of Work” and an original case co-authored by Prof. Shukla and our own Dean for External Relations Prof. Kenji Yokoyama on leadership succession at Seven & i Holdings.
The event’s diverse international cohort—with participants from institutions such as the National University of Singapore, National Taiwan University, Universiti Utara Malaysia, and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology—greatly enriched the sessions through their varied perspectives and experiences. Whether veteran case teachers or first-time facilitators, all participants engaged deeply in peer learning and reflective practice, sharing insights on student engagement, inclusive discussion techniques, and assessment strategies.
The workshop closed with a strong sense of purpose and community. As AI tools become increasingly prevalent in higher education, participants agreed that human-centered, inquiry-driven learning is more important than ever. We are proud to support the continued development of case educators in Asia and beyond, and look forward to future collaborations that elevate teaching excellence in the age of innovation.
