Silver Finish for Our MBA Students at the Asia-Pacific Family Enterprise Case Competition
Second-year MBA students Timo Datwyler and Torben Rabe represented NUCB Business School at the Family Enterprise Case Competition (FECC) Asia-Pacific Qualifier, hosted by Sasin School of Management in Bangkok, Thailand, from August 15–17. Under the guidance of Professor Kenji Yokoyama, the pair competed against nine teams from seven countries, including leading institutions such as Sasin and Fudan University. Despite the challenge of fielding only two members while most teams had four, their dedication and skill carried them to a silver finish.
The competition opened with pre-visit case presentations and continued with a rigorous five-hour case analysis in the qualifying round. With sharp analysis and clear presentations, the NUCB Business School team advanced to the finals with a commanding lead. In the final round—another intensive five-hour case session—they secured second place, finishing just behind the host team from Sasin.
While only the first-place team advances to the global stage, Timo and Torben's excellence under demanding circumstances showcased their determination and capability, as well as that of all the NUCB Business School students they proudly represented. Their performance highlights the school’s growing reputation in family business research and education worldwide. Congratulations to all of the competitors, and sincere thanks to our partner Sasin for hosting a wonderful event fostering meaningful opportunities for global collaboration.
