The National University of Singapore Business School (NUS Business School) recently collaborated with the NUCB Business School on a study tour program for their Chinese EMBA program called “The NUS Executive MBA (Chinese).” As one of the leading – if not the top ranked – in a variety of global rankings and by professional reputation, the NUS Business School brought two groups of students for a short intensive study outside of Singapore to the Nagoya Marunouchi Tower Campus in early and late September. As a modular-style program, the students at NUS are typically working full-time while completing their degree part-time (which is very similar to the NUCB Business School EMBA program in Japanese) and it includes overseas exposure throughout Asia for brief study programs.

The Nagoya leg of the study in Japan tour included a three-day intensive schedule. The program was led by Professor Brian Hwrang who is an Associate Professor in the Department of Analytics and Operation at NUS. His course focused on Systems and Operations Management, which included a tour of the Toyota production plant and a guest lecture conducted by Kakuro Amasaka. Professor Amasaka was once part of the Toyota team that built the company to the giant known around the world today and has published three books on Toyota Production Systems and management, most recently in 2017 authoring “Toyota: Production System, Safety Analysis and Future Directions.” Additionally, Professor Amasaka has also conducted lectures at the undergraduate campus of the Nagoya University of Commerce and Business.

The NUCB Business School has 113 elite global partner institutions in 51 countries around the world. As the most globally oriented business school in Central Japan and one of the top leading business schools in all of Japan, the emphasis on study abroad and international exchange is a key driver of the mission at the NUCB Business School.
