MBA Basics Satisfies a Sweet Tooth for Accounting

MBA Basics continued this week with a two-hour session on Accounting led by Professor Frendy, who assigned participants the Happy Ice case published at Nanyang Tech University. The case revolves around Happy Ice, a Singapore-based startup, a vending machine developer and ice-cream wholesaler cum distributor with an operation team of eight members.  With successful operations in the Singapore market, the company plans to launch similar operations in Malaysia with a franchise model. With the expansion plan in mind, the founder of Happy Ice wonders if anything could be done to improve the internal control system of the company, especially that of the working capital.

Prof. Frendy guided participants through an analysis of the case and provided them with analytical frameworks to address some of the operational inefficiencies that Happy Ice suffers from. In two teams, participants developed proposals and presented their ideas, finding ways to organize their thoughts and communicate them effectively as a team.
