Prof. Jawad Syed, a visiting professor from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) conducted an online lecture on “Leadership & Organizational Behavior”, a mandatory module for Masters in Management(MiM) program. This course aims to equip students with a broad understanding of leadership and organizational behavior from an applied perspective. A critical and reflective perspective will be emphasized, inviting students to develop their own judgement and broad decision making skills under complex situations.
Prof. Syed challenged students with strict, exacting standards and encouraged them to think deeply about the responsibilities and qualities of leaders. The lecture started off with a discussion of personality types, centered around MBTI and the concept of introvert/extrovert personalities.
On the last day of the lecture, Prof. Syed divided students into groups and engaged in a negotiation simulation and groups had a limited time to decide on their BATNA, negotiate with the other groups, come to a deal, and draw up a mutually agreeable contract. By the end of the course, the students will be able to understand fundamental leadership and organizational behavior theories and how to adapt these theories to understand and resolve various organizational cases from multiple angles and perspectives.
