The 5th study session of the Tax and Accounting Network, of which alumni and current students of NUCB Business School are members, was held in a hybrid format at Nagoya Campus. In the first part, Associate Professor Kazuo Nosaka spoke on "Organizational Forms and Taxation of NPOs," and in the second part, "Starting a Business as an NPO," the speaker was Yasuyo Yamamoto, President of Olive House, a certified NPO, who led the participants in a discussion. The second session was on "Starting a Business as an NPO," with a discussion among the participants.
Certified NPO Olive House is an NPO whose business is to support needy mothers and children and to operate a shelter to protect victims of domestic violence. Mr. Yamamoto, President of the NPO, gave a detailed account of the process from the start of the business to the acquisition of certification, as well as the status of the organization's activities after obtaining certification. The participants were able to gain a concrete and practical understanding of the various benefits of certification.
Participants commented, "I was able to understand the management style of NPOs through this workshop, and the reference to the possibility of starting a business or conducting business as an NPO was very helpful. Many participants seemed to have gained a broader insight into the NPO business model.
