"...it is what it is. It's a gravitational sort of problem. You can't do anything about it. It's something maybe I identified early on, that's why I started my business degree. You try to have as many options as you can in life."

ESPN quoted NFL professional player Alejandro Villanueva of the Pittsburgh Steelers regarding his decision to enroll at Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business.

Just before the start of the 2017 NFL season, Villaneuva signed a $24,000,000 contract but sees his business degree as an opportunity more valuable than playing at the top level in one of America's most popular sports.

In the past, many students looked at the MBA like an NFL contract. This is your "golden ticket" to a high-paying job as at the top level, typically C-suite.

At the recent matriculation ceremony for the NUCB Business School, Dean of the Graduate School Dr. Yasutomi Kitahara spoke about the evolution of MBA demand. The trend of MBA students has shifted since the 1990s away from this idea of a "one way career path" towards a purpose of lifelong education and personal development.

MBA students no longer quit their jobs to enroll in full-time MBA programs as much as they did 20+ years ago. Part-time programs, Executive Education modules, short programs and certificate programs have become the booming trend in post-graduate management education.

The NUCB Business School offers the Weekend EMBA, Weekend MBA and Weekend MSc degree courses as well as two newly launched specialized certificate-bearing tracks called the 'Healthcare MBA' and 'Global MBA'.

The 'Global MBA' certificate program is offered in both Tokyo and Nagoya in 100% English over six courses taught in six weekends throughout the year. E-mail us at mba@nucba.ac.jp for additional details and information request.
