Student Voice: Jessica (MBA '18)
Jessica Nunez did not travel too far from the Philippines to study at the NUCB Business School, but she did take her time to make the decision to enroll in the Global Leader Program. After attending a QS MBA fair in Manila several years ago, she began to think about her opportunity to become a graduate student in Nagoya, Japan. She shares his background and story for coming to the NUCB Business School below.
Before coming to Japan, I was working for more than 6 years at a bank in the Philippines. It was financially rewarding and secure, but I felt stuck in terms of career and personal growth. I was determined to maximize the opportunity to learn and experience more while I still can, and pursuing an MBA in the NUCB Business School allowed me to do so.
An MBA would open up more career options, improve and create new skills and gain better understanding of businesses. I also believe that it’s a privilege to be able to learn all that in an amazing country like Japan. Studying at the NUCB Business School has been challenging but it helped me get out of my comfort zone. Preparing for case studies requires you to become mentally, physically and emotionally ready to collaborate with other students.
Most importantly, the NUCB Business School gave me the top opportunity to gain valuable knowledge not only from lectures, textbooks and cases, but also from people of all nationalities, backgrounds and experiences. It’s a humbling experience to discover that while we all come from different cultures and economic backgrounds, we all have the same drive and determination to learn more and be more, while we still can.
The NUCB Business School has 130 elite global partner institutions in 54 countries around the world. As the most globally oriented business school in Central Japan and one of the top leading business schools in all of Japan, the emphasis on study abroad and international exchange is a key driver of the mission at the NUCB Business School.
