2021 Entrance Ceremony held at Nisshin Campus

Nagoya University of Commerce and Business held an entrance ceremony at its Nisshin Campus on April 1, 2021. A total of 127 new students enrolled in the Graduate School of Management (EMBA/MBA) program and Masters in Management (MSc) programs, bringing the total number of enrolled students to 583. The day was blessed with fine spring weather and the ceremony was held amidst cherry blossoms in full bloom. Congratulations to all the new students on their enrollment!

The ceremony began with the Chancellor & President of NUCB Dr. Hiroyuki Kurimoto welcoming the new students. With the hope that the students would become true leaders based on the "frontier spirit" that is the founding spirit & vision of the university, he talked about three topics: "Learning at Nagoya University of Commerce and Business," "Business Ethics," and "Importance of MBA Education," and demonstrated the importance of curiosity in continuing to ask the right questions.

Ms. Yuka Tanimoto, Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Japan Web attended as a guest speaker for the 2021 entrance ceremony. Ms. Tanimoto talked about the "necessary elements" that are common to the people who acted as a business and global leaders and that will help us to move forward in the future based on her experience of interviewing more than 3,000 people, including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, founder of Starbucks Howard Schultz and co-founder of Apple Inc, Steve Wozniak.

The elements that Ms. Tanimoto shared from her life experience are "eccentricity, never give up and the ability to follow your dreams”. She also highlighted the importance of "continuing to learn" and added that in this phase of life "continuing to learn" is a necessary condition for surviving in this chaotic era of rapid change. In conclusion, she said that the Nagoya University of Commerce and Business is the best place to provide students with the necessary education for the future and to nurture the next generation of leaders who will spread their wings around the world. She concluded by encouraging students to explore knowledge, build a strong network of friends and professors, and fully enjoy the best platform & brand of NUCB.

Lectures for the spring 2021 semester will start from April 10th, Saturday. All of the faculty and staff will do their best to support the new students so that they can lead a meaningful and fulfilling student life and follow their goals.
