"Prof. Koyama and the Frontiers" rock the Spring 2024 Welcome Party

Welcome Party

Our semesterly welcome party was held on the 3rd floor of our Marunouchi Tower Campus in Nagoya, bringing together faculty, alumni, and students of programs in English and Japanese to celebrate our newly enrolled colleagues and peers from within Japan and 23 other countries with food, drink, and live performances.

After the traditional kenbu performance by our EMBA alumnus Mr. Seishow Ando, the bar was opened and a toast led by Dean Iwasawa kicked off the dinner, which was served from a beautifully arranged spring-themed buffet table by our caterer, Cezars Kitchen. As the clinking of glass and silverware started dying down, Prof. Koyama and his band "The Frontiers," whose membership is made up of musically gifted MBA candidates, took to the stage to provide live musical accompaniment.

Even with such a diverse audience, the band played a setlist of globally known hit songs in Japanese and English that had partygoers singing and dancing the night away together. Featured songs included A Cruel Angel's Thesis, the opening theme song for the legendary anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, and, the inescapable singalong classic, Hey Jude by the Beatles.

With classes already underway and so much to learn and experience, the night was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the ties that bind us as a community of innovative, ethical, and enthusiastic leaders. We look forward to seeing these friendships blossom throughout the semester and beyond.
