Cultural Immersion Experience at Shirakawago and Takayama City (Gifu Prefecture)

Overview
International Students studying at NUCB Business School had the opportunity to spend two days and one night in the neighboring prefecture, Gifu.
Embodying NUCB Business School's "Frontier Spirit", students had the opportunity to visit the UNESCO Shirakawago site, stay overnight at an historical ryokan (traditional Japanese Inn), make traditional Sarubobo Dolls, and finally ended the trip with exploring the beautiful Takayama City.

Day One:
Students arrived at the UNESCO Heritage Site, Shirakawago around noon and were able to enjoy the beautiful scenic views.
Although it was a bit rainy, students were able to walk the streets of the beautiful traditional village.

After exploring Shirakawago, students had the opportunity to relax and enjoy the traditional Japanese Ryokan, "Kiyoharu".
Kiyoharu offered students the opportunity to experience a traditional Japanese dinner  "Washoku"  and a revitalizing onsen (hot spring).

Day Two
On the second day, students participated in an activity to make Traditional Sarubobo Dolls.
Students were able to customize the dolls to their liking.
After the enjoyable activity, students spent the remainder of the trip exploring the city of Takayama.

Message from a participant

Pauline: "The trip was great even if I would have liked more time to visit both cities thoroughly, especially the little shop in Takayama.
The ryokan was amazing with the onsen and the traditional meals! I would have loved to stay for a second night.

My favorite activity was making the Sarubobo doll because I don't think it's something that I would have thought of doing by myself and also because I like creative activities and the fact that we were able to personalize the doll. It was really fun sharing those moments with everyone!"
