Welcome Back, Weekend Warriors: 2024 Fall Semester Begins
After weeks and weeks of preparations, orientation, guidance sessions, residence hall check-ins, and dozens of answers to questions from anxious new students, the fall semester begins with courses in Marketing Management (EMBA), Service Innovation (MBA JP), Knowledge Management (MBA EN), Financial Accounting (MSc), and Leading Operations Management Excellence (CLD).
Course participants have had weeks to prepare for their first fall semester courses, forming their individual analyses in anticipation of persuading, debating, and collaborating with their classmates in case discussion. In our Nagoya Campus auditoriums, they will engage with real business cases in a participant-centered learning environment to prove their value as contributors to the project of analyzing and building consensus with a diverse set of stakeholders.
Mimicking the conditions of business, master-level courses at NUCB Business School require students to contribute their best insights and most relevant experiences to the class discussion in order to better inform the class's approach to the issues presented in their assigned cases. Participants understand that each course presents an opportunity to prove their ability to contribute to the collaborative and competitive learning environment: the curve-grading policy dictates that professors work with a budget when evaluating students, limited to a certain number of students who are able to receive passing grades.
This gamification of business education allows students to explore the areas in which they excel and the areas in which they are challenged more deeply than they ever have in their careers. We look forward to seeing our new students develop into innovative and ethical leaders, as well as form many enriching new relationships along the way.
