#MBA #MIM #Japan #Nagoya

On June 9th, NUCB Business School continued its "Leading in Turbulent Times" webinar series, one of two series of open and free webinars being held through June and July. The 2nd session, entitled “The (Not So) New HRM under COVID-19: Managing Remote Working,” was conducted by Dr. Kuok Kei “Eddie” Law, an NUCB Business School faculty member who specializes in knowledge management, human resource management, and sports management. His work has appeared in internationally renowned journals such as Journal of Knowledge Management and European Management Journal.

Dr. Law talked about the competitive advantages and drawbacks of remote working and its impact on society and individuals, describing how attitudes towards remote working are influenced by various personal factors including personality and ability, and contextual factors including family and organizational culture. His presentation also addressed management concerns such as productivity, fairness, and resources, and how these concerns can be traced back to underlying issues within an organization.

Participants in the webinar were invited to share their own experiences with working from home and maintaining a work-life balance, with some preferring the blending of work and life while others expressed their need for more clearly defined boundaries.
