Plan

Day1

  1. as a case study of business model analysis, you will compare two companies in the distribution industry (Seven & i Holdings and LAWSON). We will analyze how each company's business model is structured and what competitive advantages they have as a result.
  2. we will point out the existence of a loop in which value is created by the activities of human resources, and revenue is generated by the delivery of that value to customers, which in turn is used to fund the training and promotion of human resources. Based on this discussion, we will review the business model of the Shiki Theatre Company.

Day2

  1. we will examine the change from selling products to services from a business model perspective.
  2. we will examine why GE's DX failed and the factors essential for DX to succeed from a business model perspective.

  • I had almost no knowledge of MBAs before, and as a salesperson in the manufacturing industry, I had not studied management strategy in depth, but the class discussions and group work were very informative. In addition, doing the assignments in advance increased my understanding of the class on the day of the course, which was a great stimulus.

    Public Service 20s Male

  • This was my first time learning about business models. It was a very enjoyable and educational time as I was guided through several strategies that I am currently struggling with, as if a fog had lifted. The learning without preparation, such as the group work and the Toyota case study, was more practical and I will try it out immediately in tomorrow's meeting.

    Banking 40s Female

  • Based on the success and failure of real business models, what should we think about and how should we think about it? How should we think about it? We will be able to think about how to incorporate them into our own business and make use of them in the future.

  • I knew the term "business model," but I had been using it without thinking about its true meaning. Through this lecture, I learned the meaning of the term "business model" and how to draw a business model canvas, which I felt would be useful for taking a bird's eye view of my own business.

    Office Worker 20s Male

  • I was stimulated by the many workshops and discussions that were woven into the class, which allowed for a lot of exchange of ideas among the different members. This class style is interesting and fun. I would like to take another class with Mr. Koyama sometime in the future. I am looking forward to it.

  • I was able to deepen my understanding of the other side of the business model canvas, from the basic writing of the business model canvas, to how to generate ideas with an awareness of the past and future, and the culture of the organization. We were constantly reiterated the importance of capturing things in a structure, which helped us develop a structured way of looking at things.
