Sung Soo Eric Kim

Biography

Sung Soo Eric Kim is an Associate Professor at NUCB Business School and Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Business, Yonsei University. His research asks how the adoption of artificial intelligence changes the firm itself: where its boundaries fall, how it is governed, how it is organized, and what it becomes capable of. These questions extend to the semiconductor industry, where competition among firms and among states has become inseparable.
In 2023, when few business schools anywhere taught the subject, Kim developed the "AI Strategy for Business" curriculum, the first of its kind in East Asia. He has since taught it in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, along with Strategic Management, AI and Corporate Governance, and AI in Entrepreneurship.
For audiences in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, Kim comments on artificial intelligence and semiconductor strategy, appearing regularly on CNN, Le Figaro, the Chosun Daily, Arirang News, TaiwanPlus, and China Daily. He served on the Korea-Swiss Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation, and speaks regularly before visiting government delegations from Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and the European Union, as well as the American Chamber of Commerce and the European Chamber of Commerce.
Kim counsels chairmen of global corporations in a range of industries on artificial intelligence strategy and semiconductor competition, and has advised leading multinational corporations on cross-border M&A transactions involving global private equity funds. He brings more than a decade of operating experience in data science and artificial intelligence.
Kim serves on the boards of the Korean Academic Association of Business Administration and the Korean Society of Strategic Management. He previously held appointments as Distinguished Guest Associate Professor at Keio University Business School and as Visiting Associate Professor at Waseda Business School and at the College of Management, National Taiwan University. He holds a Ph.D. in Management Engineering from KAIST and an M.A. and B.S. in Economics from the University of Missouri.
