Ismet Inono has been appointed as the CEO of Homann and he has got a mandate to improve the business performance which is reflected in the new KPIs. The Board was really concerned about the hotel's ability to survive stiffer competition indicated by the entry of new players in the market despite having a very high historical value. By using the momentum of the industry recovery and setting up a new strategy for progressive development, Homann has a better chance to regain its legacy as the iconic hotel in Bandung. His observation during his first days brings him to the conclusion that major operational revamps which consist of a series of programs need to take place. Ismet sees that digitalization is the best option for the hotel to champion the competition despite the previous digitization program which does not meet his expectation. He believes that digital transformation serves as a powerful enabler which facilitates automated business processes. The new automated business process could improve accountability of the whole organization in performing their tasks and to substantially expand the outreach of Homann to a wider market. The quality of the hotel services can be upgraded by ensuring the contributions of the dedicated units to provide their value adds. However, well-implemented digital transformation should start from the agility of the organization which is sustained by effective and efficient business processes. The management should also prepare the organization with a thorough cultural transformation so that all the digital facilities provided are utilized well by the management. A successful digital transformation also requires strong commitment from the top management since it might need a substantial allocation of resources. Ismet fully understands the economic consideration of his digital transformation which has to create positive net benefit in the long run.
