Arriving in my home country, Thailand, as an exchange student

As a Thai student who grew up in Thailand, everyone asked me the same question why I chose to participate exchange program in Thailand “Why don’t you go for exchange somewhere else where you can benefit from cultural and more broaden experiences?”
For me, choosing to participate in exchange program is as important as choosing MBA program, which depends on what I want from the exchange program, and how the exchange program can help me to achieve my future goals.  After completing MBA program, I would like to return and start my own business in Thailand. Therefore, building network with Thai classmates is my priority and my expectation to gain from this exchange program in my home country.

Thammasat University, where I participate in exchange program, has more than 35,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Thammasat Business School is considered one of the best business schools in Thailand. There are 7 graduate exchange students in Spring 2016 at Thammasat Business School. As exchange students, we can enroll in three international programs that are offered at Thammasat Business School, which are Master in Marketing (MIM), Master in Finance (MIF) and International Master of Business Administration (IMBA).

Study at Thammasat Business School

Although Thammasat Business School offers international programs, very few international students enroll in the programs. There are only two international students in Master in Marketing, and none in International Master of Business Administration. As these are part-time programs, most of the students work full-time and attend the classes in the evening and weekend.
For Master of Marketing program, the classes run in two-weeks block, and have visiting professors from top business schools around the world. In this semester, we have Professor Frank Muhlem from Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University for Integrated Marketing Communication Class, Professor Britt Freund from Mccomb School of Business, University of Texas at Austin for Supply Chain Management Class, and Professor AtipolBhanichsupapol from Schulich School of Business, York University for Managerial Economics Class.

The class size at Master in Marketing is 80. Unlike NUCB Business school, the teaching method is much of a lecture base, and doesn’t encourage much of the class participation. The study environment is not competitive, but instead very supportive to one another. The students who are very good in the particular subjects will held tutorial sessions every subjects.

So far, I pretty much enjoy my study exchange experience at Thammasat University. I have made lots of friends and connections that will help one another for life, which is what I am looking for.
